We will be honest, there is a bit of a process, but it is straightforward and the same one every social club follows.
Pop in any evening we are open and ask the bar staff for a membership application. You can fill it in there with a drink, or take it home and bring it back.
You will need two existing members to support your application by signing the form. If you do not know any members yet, come along to a quiet evening or one of our regular events. It is an easy place to get chatting, and the bar staff are happy to introduce you to a few regulars.
Membership is £30 for the year, plus a one-off £5 joining fee. Hand the completed form and payment in at the bar.
Our committee meets on the third Wednesday of every month to review new applications. There is nothing to worry about, the meeting is largely a formality once you have a proposer and seconder.
Once approved, your membership card will usually be ready within 14 days of the committee meeting. Pick it up at the bar next time you are in.
Yes, plenty of our members started out the same way. The easiest route is to come along to a public event night, bingo, quiz nights and themed socials are all open to non-members, and get to know a few faces. Most regulars are very happy to propose someone they have had a chat with.
Absolutely. Non-members are welcome at our public event nights, and you can also be signed in as a guest by an existing member.
If you hand your form in before a committee meeting, you could be a member within two to three weeks. If you have just missed a meeting, it will be a few weeks longer. The committee meets monthly on the third Wednesday.
No, you do not need to be there. The committee reviews your application on your behalf.
If you are not quite ready to apply, that is no problem at all. Come along to one of our event nights, or pop in for a drink one evening. We would rather you got a feel for the club first.
